Kid's Kut Expands Its Services to Include Party Supplies

Fresno, CA July 28, 2004 -- Shahin Kamil, owner of Kid's Kut in north Fresno, California has expanded her hair-cutting services to include complete party planning for children.

Joanne Carrasco now operates "Keano's Hassle-Free Kid Party & Supply" inside Kid's Kut.

"My goal is to make kid parties a "piece of cake" for stressed-out moms and dads," said Carrasco, who is originally from the Philippines.

Carrasco said today's parents work long hours and don't have the time or energy to properly plan a party for their child.

"Even with a group of just five kids, if you don't have a plan spelled out of what's supposed to happen and when it's supposed to happen, there's a lot of chaos and confusion," said Carrasco, a former hotel sales manager and wedding planner in Cebu City, Philippines.

"You tell me the theme -- Dora, Nemo, Noah's Ark, Spider-Man -- and I'll put smiles on everyone's face for two hours," said Carrasco, who has also planned dozens of events over the last eight years.

Carrasco also plans tea parties, princess parties, pretend parties, petting zoo parties, and rock-climbing parties for kids one to 15 years old. The parties can be held at Kid's Kut or another location.

Depending on the package, prices range from $18 to $30 per child, and include tables, chairs and table cloths that correspond with the theme.

"I want to help restore some of the fantasy and magic to birthday parties," said Carrasco, mother of eight month old son, Keano Storm.

Carrasco says she gently reminds parents who hesitate to spend the money that their child is only a kid once and that celebrating special events are important in a child's life.

"My music pastor calls these special times, "marker moments." Years from now, your 35-year-old son recalling himself as Spider-Man at his 8th birthday party is a wonderful memory he'll carry with him forever," said Carrasco, who attends Peoples Church with her husband, James.

Keano's Hassle-Free Kid Party & Supply also sells basic party supplies like plain-white plates, cups, and napkins so parents can plan their own parties.

"I'm here to take away the guilt pangs that we parents sometimes feel when we can't give our child the party they really deserve," said Carrasco.

"We're located near the north Fresno DMV, so it's easy to find us," said Carrasco.
